FUE Explained
A FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Hair Transplant involves administering local anaesthetic injections into the donor region and transplant regions and then performing the following 3 stages:
- Extraction – Our surgeons will remove grafts from your donor area using precise surgical tools with minimal risk of scarring. They are then stored in a controlled environment and preserved until stage 3.
- Incision Formation – A specific surgical blade is used to make micro-incisions into the transplant/recipient zone. This stage will determine the density and growth of your new transplanted hair.
- Implantation – The grafts are meticulously implanted using specialist forceps into the micro-incisions that were created in stage 2.
Our surgeons take great care to ensure your new hair grows at the correct angle and direction providing you with the most natural looking outcome following your procedure.
We use brand-new sterilised equipment for each individual procedure. We do not re-use any equipment unlike many of the clinics in the UK. We maintain the highest quality of cleanliness ensuring your maximum safety. Patient care is of the upmost importance.
Shaven vs Unshaven Explained
In FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant procedures, there are two main techniques: shaven and unshaven. Shaven FUE involves shaving the donor area completely before extracting the hair follicles, whereas unshaven FUE allows for the extraction of individual follicular units without shaving the entire donor area. S smaller portion of the donor area will be shaven instead, but this can lead to less grafts being extracted. Unshaven FUE is suitable for individuals who prefer to maintain their existing hair length and appearance during the procedure, making it less noticeable. The unshaven method also refers to the transplant area which can be left unshaven if preferred. However, there may be some drawbacks to this regarding the difficulty in managing the aftercare process. This will all be discussed at your consultation.
FUE Hair Transplant
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a modern hair transplantation technique that involves extracting individual hair follicles from a donor area, typically the back or sides of the scalp, and then transplanting them into the recipient area where hair is thinning or receding. The process is minimally invasive and does not require the removal of a strip of skin, unlike the traditional FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) method. FUE results in less scarring and a quicker recovery time compared to FUT. The extracted hair follicles are carefully implanted in a way that mimics the natural hair growth pattern, producing a more natural-looking result. FUE is a popular choice for those seeking a permanent solution to hair loss.
